Consider the Hearts in Pieces collection a jigsaw representation of Brooklyn-raised creative Ambi67 5MH’s journey through love and life. By skillfully wedding wooden pallets, discarded from storefronts and freight entrances, with cocktails of moody hues and message, the fashionista repurposed her unorganized emotions to gift the world its own framed mirror. Ambi is of the unwavering belief that the human purpose is to express art from the heart.

During the 90’s is when a teenage Ambika Martha Lewis discovered her artistic alter-ego: Ambi67 5MH , now most commonly referred to as Ambi. (Her birth name has 17 letters, which when added up using numerology totals 67. The “5MH” derives from the name of her beloved high school graffiti crew). Though born in Boston, Massachusetts, she discovered “self” years after moving to the rotten apple when she was age 3. In the borough that keeps on taking it is where she consumed herself in the interconnected planets of music, fashion, and high art. Initially used as an escape from her shyness and life at home (father was absent, mother was clinically ill), Ambi let her new love for illustration and design discover the form that spoke loudest to her then, specifically pointillism. Then with textiles like charcoal, oils, fabric, graphite and acrylics, she would uncover a new world, new strengths, a new woman.

As Ambi entered adulthood, she would embark on a dual educational escapade of romance and art. While studying Liberal Arts at NY’s Borough of Manhattan Community College and Sociology at Hunter College, and after heading abroad to attend a study abroad program at Italy’s Collegio Cristoforo Colombo in Viareggio, she would find herself in love and engaged. Heartbreak would follow, emotionally burnt layers would be peeled back and Ambi would unearth more of her truest self. As when she first was introduced to graffiti, the Libra would immerse herself in new teachings as an escape––first energy kinesiology, to help her understand the mechanics of her body through deeper emotions and vice versa, followed by psychoanalysis, for the purpose of breaking down mental walls and extending her creative antenna.  Ambi evolved into a visionary able to see the picture outside of the frame. The experiences accumulated on this journey have been manifested into the Hearts in Pieces collection (March 2013). Even the darkest of vision can see Ambi67 5MH puts her heart into every one of her pieces. Now you know why…

The HIP collection is for sale on www.heartsinpieces.com. They will be on display later on this year in NYC. Details coming will be posted.
